BUSINESS OPERATIONS
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT / OPERATIONAL ASSESSMENTS
Information: Pavel Rabiner
Working with operational management to evaluate and improve processes, systems, and procedures.
- Utilizing external benchmarking and internal theoretical performance standards to establish potential performance levels.
- Defining what needs to be changed, eliminated, and improved for short-term results.
- Defining long term desired outcomes, setting reachable standards for performance, measuring and reporting results, and holding management accountable for results.
ON DEMAND PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT REPORTS / PARAMETER DRIVEN REPORTS
Information: Pavel Rabiner
Concept: Performance management information made immediately available as specified by the user.
Goal: Via access to a web-based interface, the user will have the ability to display and trend (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) data from a set of predetermined data fields.
Rationale:
- Put control of the information in the hands of the user
- Encourage ownership of data
- Timely access to data
PROCESS SIMULATION
Information: Pavel Rabiner
Process simulation uses operational parameters from operations to simulate potential outcomes. Typically, specialized software is used to aid in this type of project. Process simulation was used in the planning phase of setting up radiology operations in the Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care.
The project involved using specialized process simulation software to model the operational process of five modalities at Massachusetts General Hospital; MRI, CT, Ultrasound, General Radiography and Nuclear Cardiology. The operational parameters for the models were then modified to determine the optimal settings to reduce waiting times and increase patient throughput. The models also aided in contingency planning by helping predict results for various process failure scenarios.
Currently, process simulation is applied to projects as deemed necessary.
